17 days till I run my first (and last??) 1/2 marathon. (I just wrote mara-thong. Ha, ha, ha! Nope, no thongs here. I think they are even more crazy than “thons”.)
That is 13.1 miles, or 20.96 kilometres! I still can’t believe I am going to do this. Wanting to do this. Ready to do this. But I am. And I do.
On Monday, I did 19.5K. And it was actually okay. (I might even say it was good.) And it made me confident that I can do this.
Last year, on February 19th, I wrote in my food and exercise journal/blog:
I want to do the Couch to 5K program and actually run a 5 K race. I writing this down so that I can be accountable to this goal. No, 5 K is not a huge distance or anything, but for me right now this seems unattainable. I would be so happy with myself and proud to have set a fitness goal and achieved it.
I would NEVER have thought I would be where I am today. And that makes it all the cooler.
I am scared and excited. But mostly excited. I can’t wait to revel in the achievement once I am done.
